Body Piercing Licensing Program
Program Information
This program fufills the state requirements for body piercers seeking their Body Piercing License. The course is 120 hours of education with 60 hours of theory and 40 hours of practical learning. There are 5 lessons in this course which include "OHLA Rules & Body Piercing History ", "Safety, Santiation and Sterilization", "The Skin, Disorders and Disease", "Body Piercing 101", "Aftercare". The practical learning includes observation of 10 above waist piercings by a licensed piercer and the participation in 10 above waist piercings supervised by a licensed piercer. The student will be awarded a recomendation required by the OLHA to obtain thier Body Piercing License after the theory coursework and 10 observed piercings are completed. After obtaining a Body Piercing License the student must complete the 10 supervised piercings before they are awarded a Certificate of Completion of the program. The observation and participation in daily business operations is included in the practical learning hours. The program is offered on a full time or part time basis during the school hours. All students must be at least 18 years of age and provide a diploma or GED certification. This program will prepare students for a career in the body piercing industry.
Facilities and Equipment
All texts for this course are provided for each student. Material is taken from the internet and published books. All instruction will be held at Forbidden Body Art, 420 SW Washington St. This is a full time licensed tattooing and body piercing facility accredited with the Better Business Bureau. All equipment is provided by the school for students while they are enrolled. We use single use needles and follow all safety, sanitation and sterilization regulations enforced by the OHLA.
Admissions Requirements and Process
Applicants for Forbidden School of Body Piercing must schedule an appointment to submit completed and signed application form and tour the school. There is no application fee. To apply for the program, applicants must provide proof that they are at least 18 years of age and a copy of their High School Diploma or GED Certification and completion of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Admissions decisions are based on available openings each term. Applicants will be notified of the school's decision. After notification of acceptance, applicants will have 5 business days to complete the enrollment agreement documents. We recommend that you register early, as classes fill quickly.
Tuition and Fee Policy
The total cost for the Art of Body Piercing Program is $1000.00. Tuition is due at enrollment in the form of cash, credit card, debit card or money order. We do not accept personal checks or credit card checks. There are no refunds.
The School of Forbidden Body Art is open to students Thursday through Monday from 2pm-8pm. Piercing appointments must be made during school hours and notification of an appointment must be given in writing to the instructor 48 hours in advance. Students are expected to finish coursework within 30-60 days from enrollment. Hours of attendance will be closely recorded by attendance records. Students will not recieve certification until all hours of classwork are accounted for. A requested leave of absense must be submitted in writing. The request will state the reason for the leave and length or time being requested. The school may grant approval at its discretion. A student on leave is considered by the school as enrolled. Students not returning to school at the end of their LOA will be withdrawn/dropped from the school.
Student Conduct and Discipline
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Respect, courtesy and sensitivity are behavioral practices expected among students, instructors and administrative personnel throughout the educational program. Appropriate behavior includes regular and punctual attendance. Students are to conduct themselves in a professional, legal and cooperative manner that is not disruptive, harassing, intimidating, dangerous to themselves or others, and that does not hinder the progress of other students in the school. Students are expected to maintain classrooms, equipment and the clinic floor at a level comparable to professional industry standards. Deviation from these standards may result in disciplinary action.
Written warning notices may be issued to students who are in jeopardy of probation, unsatisfactory progress or termination. Lack of response to warning notices may result in probation, suspension or termination. Academic warnings will be issued if students do not complete assigned weekly lessons within 3 consecutive weeks. Attendance warnings will be issued when weekly attendance is below 75 percent of required contracted attendance unless a leave of absence is in effect. Conduct warnings will be issued for not complying with school policies and rules. Verbal warnings will be issued immediately upon non-compliance. Written warnings will be issued if verbal warnings are not taken seriously. If necessary, a probation period of one week will accompany a written warning. Student will be given a written notice identifying the exact dates of probation, specific areas of deficiency and a scheduled meeting with school official. It is the students responsibility to meet with the school official to discuss the reasons for and terms of the probationary period. The student must provide a written agreement documenting a corrective action plan. A copy is given to the student and the original is maintained in the students file. A suspension from school may occur if a student has failed to comply with previous warnings. Return to school is contigent upon students meeting with school official. Although the school has established a progressive notification process, the authority is retained to impose immediate probation, suspension or termination when appropriate.
Certificate and Placement
Upon Completion of Program a portfolio of completed procedures, certificate of completion of Body Piercing Program and letter of recommendation is given to the student.
